The Autism
Some people believes that autism and autism spectrum are two terms for one thing, but there is a difference between the two terms in that the autism spectrum is the complete neurological and psychological condition that leads to a set of problems, the intensity and severity of which varies from one child to another, and that is why it was given the name of the spectrum.
There are four types of autism spectrum disorder:
🔹Autistic disorder.
🔹Rett syndrome.
🔹Asperger syndrome.
🔹Growth disorders.
As for autism, it is one of the autism spectrum disorders, which is characterized by its severity from the other spectrums.
Different indications appear in children with autism spectrum disorder, such as:
- The child does not respond when his name is called or seems to not hear you at times.
- The child’s unwillingness to be hugged
- Avoiding visual contact.
- Unable to express his feelings and share ideas with others.
- Inappropriate social reaction, and may be matted, aggressive, or ruined.
- Has difficulty in recognizing nonverbal signals, such as interpreting body language to others.
- Preferring to play alone.
- Delayed speaking or not learning to speak at all
- Repeats words said by others (echolalia)
- memorizing the words instead of coming out of him on its own
- Using pronouns incorrectly, such as using “you” instead of “I”
- Speaking with a different pitch and tone of voice
- Changing is not preferable such as eating new food or bringing new toys and clothes
- attachment to inanimate objects
- Shaking hands, flapping hands, or rotation.
- Hitting the head or biting the body
- Repeating certain actions, such as watching the same movie over and over or eating the same food at every meal
- Unfamiliar interests, such as being keen on a vacuum cleaner or ceiling fan
- Severe discomfort due to certain flavors, smells, or textures of substances.
