Punishment Strategy
_ Exposing the individual to painful, repulsive stimuli ,resulting in stopping the undesirable behavior or reducing the possibility of its occurrence at similar future situations.
The Punishment Strategy has two types:
1.The Positive Punishment:
It means exposing the individual to repulsive stimuli , This type of punishment is forbidden ,for example hitting or scolding the student after she/he has done a special undesirable behavior .It’s right that this type of punishment has quick effect to stop the undesirable behavior ,but it leads to temporary pause of this behavior. Therefore, the pause of punishment will lead to the appearance of the undesirable behavior again, in addition ,it won’t lead to learn a new desirable behavior .So that ,the guide/ mentor doesn’t advise using physical or psychological punishment because this punishment will create psychological barriers between the mentor and the student and the student won’t go back to this mentor if she/he was exposed to any harmful situation and this student won’t collaborate with the mentor at all.
2.The Negative Punishment:
This type of punishment is based on the exclusion or deprivation of something pleasing to an individual as a result of an undesirable behavior.
